Richard B. Cheney a distinguished public servant and businessman is the vice president of the United States. Cheney is a recognizable name in Washington over the years. George W. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff to presidents. He also was a member of the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served his country in many roles. Republicans as well as Democrats all respect his honesty. Cheney declared that his position as a member of the Bush administration is to be an open but discreet advisor. Cheney expressed his excitement at accepting the Republican vice-presidential nod. He stated that the future is bright for him working alongside a president who will work together with people of diverse political beliefs and the same goal. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born January 30, 1941 in Lincoln Nebraska. In 1941, when Richard Bruce Cheney turned 13, he and his family left Lincoln Nebraska and moved to Casper Wyoming where his father worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's local conservation districts.
